Study Medicine is a free, curriculum-aligned learning tool for medical students. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It is the authoritative description of our data handling.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address, and if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google returns (name, email). We use this to create and secure your account.
- Learning activity. Your answers to practice questions, quiz and OSCE activity, spaced-repetition schedule, saved items, and in-app feedback. This powers your progress, adaptive review, and the platform statistics.
- Optional survey responses. If you complete the onboarding survey, the demographic and program information you provide.
- Technical data. Standard request metadata and aggregate usage analytics needed to operate and improve the service.
How we use it
- To provide the platform: track your progress, schedule reviews, and personalize practice.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service.
- For education research, under an approved institutional research ethics protocol. Identifiable research data is handled in line with that approval; aggregate and de-identified results may be reported or published.
Sharing
We do not sell your data. Data is processed by the service providers that run the platform (hosting, database, and email delivery) under their respective terms, solely to operate the service.
Your choices and deletion
You can delete your account from within the app at any time (open Settings, then Delete account). Deleting your account removes your login and identifiable personal information. Learning-activity records retained for research are de-identified (replaced with an irreversible pseudonym) so they can no longer be linked back to you. You can also withdraw from research use at any time under Settings, then Your data. Withdrawing excludes your data from research; records already collected are retained as required by the approved study protocol but excluded from research analysis. To request a copy of your data, or to ask a question, contact us at the address below.
Data retention
We keep your account and learning data while your account is active. On deletion, identifiable data is removed or de-identified as described above. De-identified research data may be retained for the duration of the research.
